- ➤ Macy’s announced on Jan. 8 that its distribution center in Owasso will close soon — local officials are coordinating to help workers find new opportunities while the Chamber of Commerce explores future economic development for the facility. KJRH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Gentner Drummond said his office will investigate a mosque proposal on a 15-acre site on Olive Avenue due to public concern; the Planning Commission approved the rezoning request & conditional use permit, and the City Council will vote on the proposal at a special meeting on Jan. 12. - ➤ The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office is asking for dog food donations to help care for seized animals until they are transferred to rescue organizations, and supplies can be dropped off at the county courthouse, Broken Arrow District #1 Commissioner's Barn, or county emergency management facility. - ➤ Oklahoma homeowners will soon be eligible for grants to upgrade roofs against storms—applications for up to $10,000 open at noon Monday, Jan. 12 and improvements meeting FORTIFIED standards may reduce damage and lower insurance costs. KTUL
