- ➤ Construction leader Venu and city council members announced that Broken Arrow Sunset Amphitheater will expand its budget to $107 million to include a high-end restaurant, upgraded seating, and weather features aimed at extending the concert season. The venue will open early next year—improvements include radiant heating, wind walls, and fixed bench seating replacing the original lawn design. News On 6

- ➤ Sixteen area seniors were named National Merit semifinalists in September—additional recipients will be announced in June and July. Tulsa World
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma lawmakers passed the Emerson Kate Cole Act on May 7th to require clear protocols—including mandatory 911 calls after an EpiPen is used and yearly allergy training for school staff—to improve school safety after a student died from an allergic reaction in 2023; the bill now awaits Gov. Kevin Stitt’s signature and will take effect before the next school year. News On 6
- ➤ The City of Broken Arrow has launched its online surplus auction which runs from May 5 through May 27. The auction offers items such as municipal vehicles and exercise equipment (including sanitation trucks and fingerprint analyzers) and is managed by Purple Wave Auction with any proceeds benefitting local funds.
