  • A free Human Trafficking Initiative Summit will be held at NSU-Broken Arrow on May 24 from 8:30 a.m. — noon to teach residents how to spot human trafficking and help victims. Local leaders, law enforcement, and Mayor Wimpee are set to share prevention strategies following a City Council resolution.  News On 6

  • The Better Business Bureau warned that job ads offering work from home or reshipping tasks may be scams and urged students to avoid any companies that ask for payment or bank details — cautioning that vague job details and no online presence are red flags.  FOX23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Broken Arrow and Owasso first responders are fully staffed with extra trucks and rescue tools ready for severe weather following tornado damage in April. City officials also tested over 50 tornado sirens—ensuring residents are warned to get indoors quickly.  KJRH
  • Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers will increase seat belt enforcement through June 1 as part of the national Click It or Ticket campaign to boost the state's low usage rate+ trooper Mark Southall pointed out that the 15% of drivers who do not buckle up account for over half of crash deaths and urged everyone to secure their seat belts.  News On 6
