  • City officials & community members will gather today at 10 a.m. at 1500 S. Main St. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open The Gardens at Central Park, a 33,000 square foot space built from a 14-year dream featuring native plants and a water feature.  News On 6

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Around 20,000 residents in Broken Arrow lost power after smoke was reported at a PSO substation this afternoon. Officials closed New Orleans—101st Street between Aspen—145th East Avenue and Elm Place—161st Street briefly and reopened it around 1:45 p.m. today.  Tulsa World

CRIME NEWS

  • Broken Arrow police discovered an active improvised explosive device today after pulling over a wrong-way driver on the westbound Kenosha exit ramp off Highway 51—bomb squad destroyed the device and officers arrested both the driver and a female passenger on charges including outstanding felony warrants and drug paraphernalia.  News On 6

  • On May 22nd, 2025 at 8:40 p.m., fifth graders at Leisure Park Elementary in Broken Arrow painted self-portraits on a fence as part of an annual legacy project—honoring past classes and looking ahead to future students.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On May 22nd, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court deadlocked 4—4 on the St. Isidore case, which upheld the Oklahoma ruling that the religious charter school is unconstitutional. Professor Joseph Thai from OU College of Law explained that the rare tie means there is no room for an appeal unless state law changes.  News On 6
  • ODOT warns drivers in Oklahoma after a report found 60% of highway construction firms experienced accidents in their work zones last year. The department urges motorists to put away distractions, buckle up and plan routes as 100 work zones are set up this spring and summer—helping both workers and drivers get home safely.  KTUL
