Firefighters led the event (with Lieutenant Trevor Morgan noting the effort) to encourage community safety awareness.

Fire Marshal Justin Sharp advised disposing of fireworks only once they are completely cool (placing them in a bucket of water overnight) to help prevent structure fires.

Residents in Broken Arrow are worried by yellow-green water from their faucets, although city officials say the water is safe and meets all state and federal standards.

Timothy Robins from the Utilities Department said the discoloration comes from iron and manganese deposits scoured from pipes by high summer water flow+ water use has risen from 10 million to over 16 million gallons a day.
