  • Turkey Mountain park will open an 88-acre expansion called The Sanctuary at Turkey Mountain on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.—the new area will include 7 miles of trails, an elevated Treehouse Hub that overlooks a pond, playground equipment, and picnic tables near the trail intersection southwest of 61st and Elwood, funded by private donations.  KRMG News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced changes to school lunches today that require every district to fully fund student meals with state and federal dollars for the upcoming school year. Several districts, including Broken Arrow Public Schools, have raised concerns over short notice and tight budgets—some warn that meeting the rules may force deep cuts that could cost millions—adding uncertainty to the plan.  FOX23
  • An all-girls robotics team from Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy won the K12 Robotics League National Championship in the 10-12th grade division last Monday in Reston, Virginia. Junior Krista Bader from Tulsa and sophomore Ayibatari Ehimika from Broken Arrow competed against eight teams and earned a $1,000 prize as Krista now prepares for nationals in California.  News On 6
  • NSU is hosting summer youth programs at its Broken Arrow campus—offering a hands-on cybersecurity camp and two drone academies that teach STEM skills. The Drone Xperience Summer Day Academy will run from July 21st to July 25th and the Drones Legend Academy will run from July 14th to July 18th for students in grades 4 to 8.  FOX23
