Good morning, Broken Arrow.

19-year-old Angel Ibarra was extradited from Mexico and booked into Tulsa County Jail to face murder charges for a February ambush-style shooting that killed two teenagers — captured in April by Homeland Security agents — as police investigations continue.

It has been 10 years since the Bever family was brutally murdered in Broken Arrow when two brothers, now serving life sentences, stabbed their parents and three siblings, leaving a two-year-old child as a survivor + police recall the tragic night and stress the need for mental health support.

Broken Arrow Public Schools opened a new eighth grade academy at Sequoyah Middle School to ease crowding and improve safety with features like a storm shelter, concrete wall, and locked entrance with intercom.

The district says the building will be ready for classes on August 13 as it meets bond rules despite rising construction costs — providing needed relief for all middle schools.
