The OSSAA set new extreme heat policies for the 2025-26 school year that limit preseason football practice sessions to 2 ½ hours with a one-hour break between sessions and no more than 5 hours in a 24-hour period—coaches must use a smartphone app to monitor the heat index and ensure open water and cooling stations are available for athletes.
