  • Area school districts have not received their federal funding for Title I, II, III and IV programs two months into the fiscal year, and Broken Arrow Public Schools is relying on carryover funds. The state Department of Education is reviewing the awards and will release the numbers in the first week of September—district leaders say knowing the exact amounts is crucial for budgeting support for low-income and multilingual students.  Tulsa World

  • Yesterday, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond blocked the Highway Patrol plan to pull back from metro patrols around Oklahoma and Tulsa Counties — lawmakers said the decision was needed to keep public safety strong.
