  • Youth Medical Mentorship brings hands-on health care training to Broken Arrow High as part of a program now available at 19 schools. Its first meeting this week drew 80 students—and the club will hold monthly sessions to build early career skills.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma lawmakers are set to study a cat and dog overpopulation crisis today at the State Capitol—meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. in Room 206, the study prompted by Rep. Ellyn Hefner will look at the strain on shelters and rising stray numbers while reviewing methods used by other states.  News On 6
  • Last week, the Broken Arrow City Council approved a consultant agreement for construction documents to guide the new Municipal Services Building project. The building will be located at Main and Washington Street and the $1,534,074 contract moves the project into schematic design and bidding — setting the project in motion.  FOX23

  • Verily StoryWorks is developing a television drama series that will chronicle the life of Oklahoma sports legend Jim Thorpe with support from his family—filming will begin in about a year after writing and packaging are completed, and Oklahoma will feature prominently in the production.  News On 6
