COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Broken Arrow resident Rocio Medina said the Tulsa State Fair starting September 25 may feel different for the Hispanic community as immigration concerns have made local visitors more cautious; the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said there are no plans for ICE to be present and Medina advised families to enjoy the event while taking safety precautions.  KJRH
  • Food on the Move launched its third September Food and Resource Festival earlier this month to help residents gain access to food resources. Local officials warned that thunderstorms dropped 0.5 to 1 inch of rain with up to 2 more inches expected to cause minor urban flooding in Broken Arrow—a flood advisory remains until 7:15 p.m. CDT and a tornado watch is valid until 10 p.m. CDT.  FOX23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Superintendent Ryan Walters said his office is investigating teachers across Union, Tulsa, Jenks and Broken Arrow for making social media posts about conservative activist Charlie Kirk and warned that their certificates will be pulled if evidence of violating the teacher code of conduct is found. Broken Arrow district officials said they have no evidence of any employees posting inflammatory messages on their personal accounts.  KJRH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials said talks over buying the old Juvenile Center property for a low-barrier homeless shelter will resume — a price dispute had delayed the plan.  Tulsa World
  • Hunger Free Oklahoma warned that the USDA cut its Household Food Security Report, which has provided trusted data on food insecurity affecting 1 in 4 children and 1 in 6 households in our state. CEO Chris Bernard said the loss of this report may lead to further federal nutrition cuts—risking more harm to local communities.  KJRH

SPORTS NEWS

  • The SEC revealed Oklahoma’s opponents for the next four seasons—Texas, Missouri and Ole Miss will be played every year while new home and road games are set to start in 2026. The announcement came yesterday and marks a lighter schedule after previous tough seasons.  News On 6
