  • A study by Tulsa Area United Way showed that 45% of Oklahoma households could not afford basic expenses in 2023 with over 700,000 families struggling—16% lived below the poverty line and 29% were classified as ALICE households. The report also revealed a 22% rise in financially struggling households since 2010, underscoring the need for both short-term and long-term support.  KTUL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The lanes on South Lewis Avenue between East 6th and East 7th Streets were closed Tuesday for waterline repairs and will remain shut until October 2—drivers should heed posted signs and allow extra travel time.  KRMG News
  • State Superintendent Ryan Walters resigned after two years on September 30 — he will become CEO of the Teachers Freedom Alliance today — while Governor Stitt plans to appoint his successor soon to bring real results to Oklahoma's schools.  KJRH
