  • Broken Arrow residents will safely dispose of any old or unused prescription medications this weekend at a community drug take-back event coordinated by law enforcement and health officials to prevent opioid misuse and accidental poisoning.  KTUL

  • After two years of work, Tulsa maker Zeeco finished its Global Headquarters at 47th and Garnett today—company leaders held a celebration as the firm began expanding its Broken Arrow technology center in May and created 250 new jobs in Oklahoma this year.  KRMG News

  • Ray Walker from the Oklahoma Insurance Department warned seniors today that fake Medicare enrollment postcards ask them to call a number to share personal details—these postcards are not from Medicare and should be reported if received.  KTUL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tulsa Community College launched the Tulsa Advantage scholarship program that helped nearly 100 students, including Holland Savage from Broken Arrow High School, get free tuition for their first year—Dr. Eunice Tarver said the program lets eligible local graduates take up to 30 credit hours or even choose a gap year.  KJRH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sandy Berenson from Broken Arrow was bitten by a Lone Star tick in 2021 and later diagnosed with Alpha-gal Syndrome, a rare condition that causes severe reactions to red meat and mammal products. Her condition forces her to avoid family meals and the horses she loved—she shares her story to warn others of tick risks.  KJRH
  • Oklahoma Caring Vans are offering free flu shots to children throughout October. The mobile units—run by the Oklahoma Caring Foundation—will deliver nearly 4,000 vaccines statewide to children who are uninsured, Medicaid—eligible or American Indian and require current shot records.  KRMG News
  • The Oklahoma Caring Vans will deliver nearly 4,000 free flu shots to uninsured and Medicaid-eligible children from October to April in a statewide effort to protect young kids. Several Tulsa-area vans are scheduled for clinics in October—parents must bring current shot records and complete paperwork—ensuring the vaccinations are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.  KTUL
