Local schools competed in the 11th annual Cheer for a Cure competition on Sunday to raise funds for Oklahoma Project Women — a nonprofit that offers free mammograms and surgery.
Broken Arrow's 6th Grade Gold Tiger Cheer Team won overall, and organizers said the event was emotional as some coaches affected by breast cancer inspired the athletes.
Yesterday the Tulsa Oilers lost their home game 5-2 to the Tahoe Knight Monsters, dropping them to a 1-3 record, and key breakaway goals set the pace for the contest.
They will host the Kansas City Mavericks at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday at the BOK Center.
